Major transport update

With Amsterdam’s new Noord/Zuidlijn (North-South metro) coming into action on from Sunday 22 July, further changes to the rest of the city’s network are also implemented so it’s worth spending some time to check if this affects your usual routes.
Amsterdam’s local transport company, GVB, summarises the many changes here:

For example, there’s a new Tram 11 serving the Overtoom to Centraal Station, and from Leidseplein the Tram 1 no longer goes to Centraal Station but runs via the Weteringschans, Sarphatistraat, and Oosterpark to the Muiderpoort Station. Trust us, there are many other changes to the network.
The Noord/Zuidlijn itself is meant to be the key spine to the transport network, with fewer trams passing through the centre, and travellers expected to use the Noord, Zuid and Vizelgracht metro stops as interchanges.
(But we’ll all just keep riding our bikes anyway, right?)
