At the Albert Cuypmarkt | DAM KITCHENS
Written by DAMKITCHENS on 09/11/2018
My first visit to the Albert Cuypmarkt was a feast for the eyes, but the smells also hit me with childhood memories and inspired new cravings.
Here’s my short report for Broadcast Amsterdam radio …
Notes:
I had wanted to try out a recipe from one of my favourite cook books, Plenty by Yottam Ottolenghi – Soba Noodles with Aubergine and Mango, but I didn’t think I’d be able to find some of the ingredients in my local supermarket. So I headed for Amsterdam’s famous Albert Cuypmarkt to see if I could find soba noodles, thai basil and more.
I found the soba noodles at an asian supermarket and all the fresh produce I needed at a nearby stall. I forgot to take any cash, but I managed to pay for all my shopping by card.
But how about you, do you have a favourite stall on the Albert Cuypmarket, or a shop you can recommend?
