• knife attacks yesterday in Amsterdam, citizen’s arrest made
• strike action in Belgium delaying cross border services including international trains.
• engineering works today between Ams-C and Hoofddorp mean delays of around 10 mins and fewer sprinters until about 9pm today (Friday)
• also a warning about buying painkillers from untrusted sources… at least 2 people poisoned after taking some tainted Nitazene
• nationwide firework ban seems a little closer but still some opposition and if you can buy them in Germany or Belgium, what’s the point?
• emergency services called to rescue a person who fell into the water behind Marnixstraat overnight
• police find drugs and large amounts of cash in the city, after a tip off.
• 17 April – “Amsterdam Centraal” starts on National Geographic channel – the inner workings of a railway station (like all those Airport programmes we’ve seen).
• 75,000 prerolled joints, 125kg hash and hemp and nearly 200 grand in cash seized following a tip-off about a hemp farm
• NL govt says they want to see the 70,000 strong military rise to 200,000 but are ruling out compulsory military service for now. Meanwhile, Poland is giving shooting lessons to kids in high school
• King Charles in hospital. Some appointments this week get cancelled but the state visit to Italy is still on next week.
