Roma interviews Digna Sinke 19/06/2025

Film director, Digna Sinke joined us for an interview, as her latest film, Hemelsleutel, hits Amsterdam cinemas.

Listen back to the full radio version via the Mixcloud player above.

Known for her reflective and quietly powerful body of work, Digna Sinke has spent decades exploring the intersections of memory, landscape, and time.

Her new film, Hemelsleutel, enters cinemas in the Netherlands on June 19th. The film follows Lea, the imagined protagonist of a feature film that Digma is in the process of making. A photographer commissioned to document the energy transition in the Port of Amsterdam, Lea’s commercial assignment resurfaces deeply personal memories (and associations) for Lea. Gradually, the line between Lea and Digma blurs. The film seamlessly blends fiction, autobiography, and video essay, part into a meditation on the past, memory, and transience.

This radio feature is available to listen to On Demand online, and also broadcast on BRAM RADIO in June-July 2025.

Interview by Roma Kwiatkiewicz.
