- In 2022, people in the EU indicated a high level of satisfaction with their personal relationships. On a scale from 0 (not at all satisfied) to 10 (completely satisfied), they rated their satisfaction with personal relationships on average at 7.8, indicating a very slight decrease from the 7.9 in 2018. https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/products-eurostat-news/w/ddn-20240730-1
- the Netherlands had an average satisfaction level of 8.0 in both 2018 and 2022 for personal relationships.
- One of the easiest ways to start building your circle is to tap into the network you already have. Here’s a simple tip: ask your friends if they know anyone in Amsterdam. It could be their friends, a cousin, or even just a work colleague. Get them to connect you — social media is your best friend here. Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, whatever works. And once you’ve got that connection, don’t overthink it. Suggest grabbing a coffee or going for a walk. It’s casual, low pressure, and a great way to learn a bit about the city while getting to know someone new. Honestly, this works because a friend of a friend usually feels more approachable. It’s like a soft introduction to your new city, and who knows? That coffee chat might just lead to your first real friendship in Amsterdam. Give it a shot! You’ve already got the connection — now it’s just about making the most of it.
