Slowdown Show | “Let the music do the talking” | 29 March
Ruth Wilson 29/03/2020
It was Sunday night, and Ruth was broadcasting from home for the first time. With an audience … the family curious about these new lockdown activities, treated the whole show as a spectator sport!
Listen back
Two hours of amazing music and local Amsterdam updates. Not too much focus on COVID-19, statistics and figures, we all know what is going on … Ruth decided to let the music do the talking. There were three pieces of music from Manu Dibango, the legendary saxophonist who died this week, aged 86 as a result of contracting coronavirus. Celebrating this musical impact.
Other tracks included a few old favourites including Desmond and the Tutu’s alongside female powerhouse artists such as Celeste, Pattie LaBelle, Jhelisa and Shirley Bassey. Social media has been flooded with people sharing music this week, so we were treated to tracks by The Who, Mike Longo, Todd Rundgren, Birdy, Finn Peters and then closing the show with Guillaume. Back next Sunday at 8pm.
